Garlic Bulb and Clove Sizes
- Bulb Diameter: Standard commercial garlic bulbs generally range from 40 mm to 65 mm+ in diameter (approx. 4 to 6 cm).
- Clove Weight & Size: Individual cloves average about 5 grams each, measuring roughly 1 1/4 inches by 3/4 inch by 1/2 inch according to the America’s Test Kitchen Clove Sizing Guide.
Retail Packaging
- Mesh Bags & Nets: Common consumer sizes include 200g, 250g, 500g, and 1 kg mesh or net bags, which typically hold anywhere from 3 to 12 heads of garlic depending on bulb size.
- Peeled Garlic: Fresh or processed peeled cloves are often packaged in 150g, 500g, or 1000g (1 kg) resealable pouches or flow-pack plastics.
- Other Formats: Tubes, small cardboard “stocking” displays, and clear plastic-covered baskets.
Wholesale and Bulk Packaging
- Medium Bulk Bags: 10 kg cartons or bags are frequently supplied to commercial kitchens and markets.
- Heavy Wholesale Sacks: Standard bulk garlic is packed in 25 kg, 40 kg, 50 kg, or up to 60 kg polypropylene (PP) or plastic net/mesh bags.
